Wineries
Introducing some of our supportive wineries to you.
Mac Forbes Wines. In creating Mac Forbes Wines back in 2004, there was a clear purpose to better understand and connect with where I am from. The more I have discovered over the years, the more I realise there still is to learn. Today, we are driven by curiosity and a passion for the nuances of this unique place. In each bottle of wine we offer a small snapshot of our evolving understanding of the Yarra Valley, and hope that through sharing these wines you will find joy and excitement in the stories they tell.
Langmeil Winery. With a history dating back to 1842, Langmeil Winery is where a blend of Barossa’s cultural beginnings with world-class winemaking can truly be experienced. Once a trading village settled by German migrant Christian Auricht, this remarkable location forms a captivating pocket of Australian wine history and is home to what is believed to be the world’s oldest shiraz vineyard, The Freedom 1843. Family-owned and operated by the Lindner family, whose own mark on the region spans six-generations, Langmeil today embodies the ideals and experience passed down throughout the generations of Barossa’s winemakers and grapegrowers before them. Visit Cellar Door to taste award-winning wines, book an intimate tasting in the Freedom Cellar or explore the charm of the passionately restored 1842 trading village .
Chateau Yaldara WinesInspired by its founder Hermann Thumm, who first started crafting Barossa Valley Wines in 1947 and was one of the regions first boutique winemakers. Thumm pushed the boundaries of Australian winemaking through his appetite for experimentation with wine techniques, styles and blends.
It is hard to imagine what 160 years of growth looks like.
Our timeline is the perfect snapshot to begin understanding how this incredible estate was born and evolved.
Take it a step further and come to our Chateau to venture through our original cellars, learning more about our founder, Hermann Thumm, and how Yaldara has continued to be a Barossa must-see.
Dutschke Wines. Wayne started making wine in 1979 in Australia as well as knocking out a few vintages in Spain and California. In 1990, Wayne formed his own brand called WillowBend producing a blend of Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet. Interest from the United States in 1998 brought about a name change to Dutschke Wines as well as a few new brands – GHR Neighbours Shiraz, St. Jakobi Shiraz and the reserve wine Oscar Semmler Shiraz.
Since their first crush in 1990, Dutschke Wines has strived to make wines of the highest quality that show Wayne’s expression of the characteristics of that precious patch of dirt from a precious corner of the Barossa Valley.
